Anna Lorentzson

The Anna Lorentzson Foundation for Digital Art aims to support the creation, understanding and information about digital art. Digital art is developing rapidly and what is meant by digital art is changing rapidly. However, digital art refers to artworks that are created, processed or altered with computers or future artificial intelligence. It also refers to art that is distributed over networks or created there.

 1. Information and skills development:

  • Courses and workshops: The foundation will support education that teaches basic art principles and how to apply them using digital tools.

2. Supporting artists and the digital art community:

  • Financial support: The foundation will provide grants, scholarships, purchases and other forms of funding to digital artists to help them create their works.
  • Exhibitions and curation: The foundation will curate and present digital art in various formats, including online galleries, physical exhibitions and pop-up experiences. This helps artists showcase their work and reach a wider audience.
  • Community Building: The Foundation will create platforms and communities for digital artists. This may also include building communities around open source tools and new technologies.
  •  Impact and Recognition: The Foundation will work to advocate for the recognition of digital art as a distinct and important field within contemporary art, highlighting its unique achievements and cultural value.

3. Research and Innovation:

  •  Collection and Archiving: The Foundation will document and acquire digital art as the medium is often ephemeral, helping to preserve and document the history of the medium.
  •  Exploring New Technologies: The Foundation will support artists who use innovative and emerging technologies, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and virtual worlds to push the boundaries of creative expression.
  •  Partnerships: The Foundation will foster collaborations between artists, researchers and technologists to explore the creative potential of new tools and media. The foundation can choose one or more goals to support during a year.
